چکیده
In certain cases such as cancer patients or patients with coagulopathies, the venous thrombosis is a frequent complication that is associated with the implantation of central venous catheters. However, it is uncommon in other contexts, such as acute myocardial infarction without complications in its fifth day of evolution, after being treated with platelet inhibitors in addition to the initial anticoagulant and fibrinolytic therapy. We present a case of thrombosis in the superior vena cava and in the right atrium related to a peripherally inserted central catheter in this clinical context. The utility of transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography in the differential diagnosis with other cardiac structures and in the evolutionary control is commented. Likewise, potential complications and the treatment of

Percutaneous transhepatic thrombolysis in the treatment of acute portal venous thrombosis.
Acute portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a rare clinical condition that can cause portal hypertension and bowel infarction. Early diagnosis and treatment of PVT is crucial for the restoration of portal venous flow and reduction of morbidity and mortality. We report a successful treatment of acute PVT which was seen following splenectomy, utilizing catheter directed transhepatic thrombolysis. No co...
متن کاملClinicopathological study in an ovine model of experimental acute myocardial infarction
To evaluate the prognostic significance of clinicopathological measurement in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (MI) in sheep, acute MI was induced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). For this purpose, twenty four healthy sheep were divided into the sham-operated or control group (group I, thoracotomy without MI) and the experimental group (group II, with M...
متن کاملNeonatal Thrombosis: Incidence and Risk Factors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Iran
Background: Neonatal thrombosis is one of the most important challenges among patients admitted in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which can lead to an asymptomatic condition, limb loss or even death. This study was performed to determine the incidence and risk factors of neonatal thrombosis in a tertiary care hospital in Tehran, Iran. Material and Methods: In this historical cohort, all n...
متن کاملComplement factors in Acute Myocardial Infarction and Unstable Angina
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most important and lethal diseases in the world. CAD represents a board spectrum of disease from silent ischemia at one end to sudden cardiac death at the other end. The middle of this spectrum consists of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and unstable angina pectoris (UA). Recent data show that the inflammatory process plays a major r...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Imaging of a Central Venous Dialysis Catheter Related Infected Thrombus
Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography is becoming widely available and with novel applications. We report an interesting case of a 68-year-old lady with a central venous thrombosis coincident with both a dialysis catheter infection and a recent pacemaker insertion. Two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography was unable to delineate whether the thrombosis was involved with the pacemaker w...
